Hair Loss In Women: What To Do If You’re Losing Your Hair

Hair loss is often documented as a men’s problem, but a fact that is surprising to many women is that it affects more than half of us at some point in our lives. Women’s hair loss is often different from men’s for a couple of reasons. The first is that rather than starting as a balding patch on the top of the head, most women’s hair thins from the sides and will gradually thin out rather than fade in patches. However, many women lose hair in patches as well and can often go completely bald in a manner similar to male pattern baldness.  There are solutions for women which include topical creams, real hair wigs, hair integration, and more.

Preventing Hair Loss hair loss

If there were a proven method to prevent hair loss then no one would be bald, so don’t expect miracles. However, you can help to prevent hair loss by taking care of your nutrition and your hair. Try eating healthy foods, avoid damaging your hair with heat such as blow dryers and curlers and treat your hair right with quality conditioners and shampoo. Experts suggest that you never brush your hair when wet, that you trim your hair regularly to promote growth, and that you pat your hair dry rather than rubbing it. Try using a soft bristle brush whenever possible and brush slowly and use a comb rather than a hard bristle brush to get out tough knots. Why, because a comb puts less pressure on your hair than a brush.

Hair Integration

If your hair is thinning then hair integration treatment might be a better alternative to full hair coverage options like real hair wigs. Hair integration is usually defined as weaving real hair in with your own to create a fuller look, but it could also include hair implants. Both options are great for filling out thinning hair and there are a lot of real hair options that will be realistic and beautiful.  A good hair integration treatment will look natural with your own hair and can cover small bald spots, fill in thin hair, and generally improve the look and feel of your hair. Importantly, hair weaves are not permanent, even if they use real hair, you will have to re-integrate your hair at a salon or specialist every few months.

Wigs & Partial Wigs

If you are balding or have bald spots then you might want to consider real hair wigs.  A genuine human hair wig could be impossible to tell from your actual hair if you wear it correctly. Scalp weft wigs are often considered to be one of the most realistic wigs because they appear to be coming from your scalp rather than from a wig net due to the scalp-colored netting overlay.  If you choose to purchase real hair wigs make sure that the size fits your scalp, that you learn a few techniques for wearing the wig, and that you learn to wash and care for the wig to keep it looking beautiful. It’s usually a good idea to ask a specialist about your wig and care options when you purchase it.  If you get bored with your wig, you can actually have it cut and dyed just like you would with real hair, except that of course, the wig will not grow back out.

There are plenty of options for women who are losing their hair, but real hair wigs are one of the best options for women who have lost their hair. Choose something that suits you and makes you happy, but remember that your wig style and even color can easily be adjusted with a haircut or hair dye.
