On July 18, 2017, Ramzi Jammal, CNSC Executive Vice-President and Chief Regulatory Operations Officer, shared his experiences as President of the 7th Review Meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS) with the Officers of the 6th Review Meeting of the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management. He spoke specifically about work done to increase participation at the 7th Review Meeting of the CNS and his efforts to increase openness and transparency of the review process. He also discussed the introduction of the concept of "Areas of Good Performance", which was used for the first time at the 7th Review Meeting.

On March 16, 2017, Gerry Frappier, Director General, Directorate of Power Reactor Regulation, participated in the U.S. NRC's Regulatory Information Conference, held in North Bethesda, Maryland. His presentation, titled “Safety and Security of Supply of Medical Isotope Production – the Canadian Regulator’s Perspective”, provides an overview of the responsibility for and the production and supply of isotopes in Canada, regulatory considerations including the regulation of new technologies, and considerations for safety and security.
