O God of all mercy and comfort, You are our rock and refuge in times of human crises and tragedies: Be present with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. We pray especially for the members and their families at First Baptist Church who suffered at the hands of a mass shooter. For those who have died, may their souls now rest in Your hands. For those who are wounded, we pray for Your healing grace. For those who grieve, sustain them in the palm of Your hand. For first responders, grant them comfort and peace. In this violence, May peacemakers prevail. Set a hedge of protection around all houses of worship in all places. We offer these prayers in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We tried to improvise anincubator to keep the infant alive, but the only hot water bottle we had was beyondrepair. So we asked the children to pray for the baby and for her sister. One of the girlsresponded. 'Dear God, please send a hot water bottle today. Tomorrow will be too latebecause by then the baby will be dead. And dear Lord, send a doll for the sister so shewon't feel so lonely.' That afternoon a large package arrived from England. The childrenwatched eagerly as we opened it. Much to their surprise, under some clothing was a hotwater bottle! Immediately the girl who had prayed so earnestly started to dig deeper, exclaiming, 'If God sent that, I'm sure He also sent a doll!' And she was right! Theheavenly Father knew in advance of that child's sincere requests, and 5 months earlier Hehad led a ladies' group to include both of those specific articles."
